Air India crash, Sole Survivor-"Vishwas Kumar Ramesh"

The sole survivor of Ahmedabad Air India crash , shared hid terrifying and the most tragic experience of his life. He explained how the plane exploded and how he managed to crawled out of the devastating situation.

Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, took Air India Flight 171 from Ahmedabad with his brother and after few minutes, he was the sole survivor in the whole flight. He describe the moment-“The aircraft wasn’t gaining altitude and was just gliding before it suddenly slammed into a building and exploded.” Ramesh said-“Everything happen in seconds. I realized we are going down.”

He was seated by the window in seat 11A next to the emergency exit. He noticed severe damage near him. “At first, I thought , I was dead. Later I realized I was still alive and saw an opening in the fuselage. I managed to unbuckled myself, used my leg to push though the opening and crawled out. He also told” Everyone around me was either died or dying. I still don’t understand how I escaped.”

Reason behind Air India Flight AI 171 Crash

The fundamental reason behind the crash of Air India Flight AI 171( Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner) on June 12, 2025 has not been conclusive yet, but investigators and experts put forward a number of compelling clues-

Possibility of dual engine failure which can be caused by bird strike or fuel contamination that could have prevented gear retraction.

Take off was conducted in ~40C heat which has the possibility of causing technical or operational error.
Technical failure can be caused but before flight Boeing’s 787 has a clear safety record. No sign of mechanical maintenance failures have been confirmed yet.

PM Modi meets Ramesh, the Sole Survivor

PM Narendra Modi visited Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on June 13, 2025. PM Modi personally interacted with Ramesh, in their brief yet effective conversation, Ramesh told the Prime Minister-“There were bodies all around me” and describe the horrifying incident and how he managed to escape. PM Modi in return offered some words of comfort and also praised the medical team for their swift action. His hospital visit was followed by ground inspection at the crash site, reviewing the rescue operation, coordinating with various officials from Civil Aviation Ministry and Gujarat State Government and he assured that the government will provide every possible support to the victims and their families.

PM Modi express his emotion and empathy-“The loss of so many lives is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. Om Shanti.”
