Renowned playback singer Sonu Nigam, known for captivating audiences for decades with his soulful voice and evergreen hits, recently surprised fans with a dramatic makeover.

He ditched his signature long, curly locks in favor of a sleek, shorter haircut — a fresh look that has sparked both surprise and a wave of nostalgia among his admirers.
Sonu Nigam’s new hairstyle
On Sunday, celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim shared a video on Instagram showcasing Sonu Nigam’s makeover. In the clip, Sonu is seen in a white and red vest, lip-syncing to his song Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar from the film Ishq Vishk Rebound.
The video then transitions to the singer flaunting his fresh, short haircut, complete with stylish sunglasses that enhance his charismatic new look.
Fans stunned by Sonu’s new look
Singer Shaan was among the many who were left impressed by Sonu Nigam’s fresh new look. Reacting to the transformation, he commented, “Bhai is looking like his Betaa… like a 20-something.” Sonu’s wife, Madhurima, also praised the makeover, writing,
“Thank you @aalimhakim bhai for turning him into the chocolate boy.” Fans flooded the comments section with admiration. One exclaimed, “Finallyyyy yayyyy. Looking 20 years younger!” Another added, “Hair is Hairing, Glam ain’t Sleeping, Sonu Nigam ain’t Ageing.” A nostalgic fan shared, “Taking it back to the 90s with the incredible Sonu Sir! Soaking up the nostalgic feels 😭 Keep shining.”

However, Sonu was also in the spotlight recently for a controversy following his Bengaluru concert on April 22. A video surfaced allegedly showing him refusing to sing in Kannada and comparing the situation to the Pahalgam attack, which stirred public outcry. Sonu later clarified his stance and issued an apology.
Despite this, an FIR was filed against him on May 3 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation), Section 352(1) (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace), and Section 353 (incitement to public mischief), according to ANI.
