Sonali Bendre recalled her changing perception of Salman Khan from a playful co-star to a caring friend, as he showed concern during her cancer treatment.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is well-known for his down-to-earth personality, as often mentioned by his co-stars. In a recent interview with ANI, Sonali Bendre, who acted alongside him in Hum Saath Saath Hain, shared that although they didn’t have a close relationship during the film,
she grew to admire his kindness when he regularly checked on her while she was undergoing cancer treatment in New York.

However, Sonali’s view of Salman changed completely when she saw how deeply he cared during her illness. She said, “Salman is like a child — everything about him is intense, including his care and concern.
The same person who used to make faces behind the camera was the one who traveled twice to New York to check on me during my treatment. He even called my husband, Goldie [Behl], asking if they had the right doctors and suggested other doctors to consult, sharing their contact details as well.
She went on to say, “He was genuinely invested in making sure everything was done properly. He wanted to be certain that no stone was left unturned. It felt like he had taken on the responsibility of an elder from the industry, ensuring everything was in order.

Once he was satisfied that we had made the best choices available, he became calm. Through all this, he showed just how sensitive and caring he really is. Though I’ve had my differences with him, I’ve come to truly appreciate this side of him.”
