Skoda Auto India, the brand behind popular cars like Kylak, Kushaq, and Slavia, is planning to launch electric cars soon. The company’s new Brand Director, Ashish Gupta, shared this big news in a recent interview.

Focus on Growth in India

Skoda has shared its growth plan for financial year 2026. The goal is to reach 2.5% of India’s car market. Right now, the brand has around 1.8% market share, which increased from 0.8% after the launch of the Kylak SUV.

  • Kylak is Skoda’s most affordable SUV.
  • So far, 20,000 units have been shipped, and 17,000 have been delivered.
  • Skoda’s goal is to sell 1 lakh cars this year in India.

Electric Cars Coming Soon

Ashish Gupta said, India is the most important country outside Europe for Skoda. He also said Skoda will bring electric vehicles (EVs) in the next 2 years. The focus will be on cars that match Indian customer needs.

What’s Next from Skoda?

Skoda will focus more on SUVs. The top models right now are:

  • Kylak and Kodiaq
  • A new version of Kushaq is coming because its sales dropped
  • The Superb sedan may return in 2025
  • A powerful car, Octavia RS, is also coming – but it may cost around ₹50 lakh because it will be fully imported.

Focus on Small Cities and Used Cars

Skoda will now also focus on:

  • Selling old/pre-owned cars
  • Reaching villages and small towns
  • Lowering car service costs to attract more buyers

Expanding Dealerships

  • Right now, Skoda has 165 cities covered
  • It plans to reach 200 cities
  • By the end of the year, 60 new touchpoints will be added
  • 60% of these new showrooms will be in Tier-2 cities
