The IPL 2025 Playoffs begin today (May 29), and it’s a great time to look at the top run scorers in IPL playoff matches. Some famous names like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are on the list, but Rohit Sharma is not in the top 10. Let’s see who made the most runs in IPL knockout games so far.

Top Batsman – Suresh Raina (714 Runs)
Suresh Raina, also called Chinna Thala, is number one in this list. He played 24 playoff matches and made 714 runs with a strike rate of 155.2. He played many big matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and was always a key player.
MS Dhoni – Second on the List (523 Runs)
Even though Dhoni usually bats at number 7 or 8, he has made 523 runs in 23 playoff matches. This is a big surprise for many fans. His calm batting style helped CSK many times in knockout matches.

Shubman Gill – Third Place (474 Runs)
Young player Shubman Gill, who started playing in IPL in 2018, is now ahead of big names like Kohli and Rohit. He has made 474 runs in just 10 playoff games with a strike rate of 145.4. That’s amazing!
Other Notable Players:
- Faf du Plessis – 390 runs
- Shane Watson – 389 runs
- Mike Hussey – 388 runs
These three also played big roles in helping CSK win trophies. Faf du Plessis also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) later.
Virat Kohli – 10th in the List (341 Runs)

Virat Kohli is one of the best players in IPL history. But in playoffs, his performance is not that great. He has made 341 runs in 15 matches and has never won Player of the Match in any playoff.
Rohit Sharma – Not in Top 10 (316 Runs)
Even though Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians to 5 IPL titles, he is not in the top 10 for most playoff runs. He has made only 316 runs in 21 playoff matches, and is at 14th place in the list.
