After losing, Carlsen got very angry and hit the chessboard with his fist. The chess pieces fell all over the board. Later, Carlsen said sorry to Gukesh and also patted his back.

But Carlsen did not talk to the media and left the venue.

Carlsen Had Beaten Gukesh Before

In the first round of this same tournament, Carlsen had beaten Gukesh. At that time, Carlsen said something rude. He said,

“I don’t play in the World Championship because there is no one who can beat me.”

Gukesh replied,

“If I get a chance, I will test myself against him on the board.”

Gukesh Is the Current World Champion

In December, Gukesh won the World Chess Championship in Singapore by beating Ding Liren of China with a score of 7.5 – 6.5.

Gukesh became the youngest player ever (just 18 years old) to win this title. Before him, the great Garry Kasparov had won it at the age of 22 in 1985.

Gukesh won the final match in the 14th game. The final series started on 25th November and ended on 11th December, with a total of 13 games.
