Today, June 6, 2025, PM of India, Sri Narendra Modi, inaugurates the world’s highest railway arch bridge, which connects Srinagar to the rest of India.

As infrastructure is the backbone of any nation so to boost the infrastructure of J&K, PM Modi, along with Chenab Rail Bridge, also inaugurates Anji bridge and flags off Vande Bharat trai,n which connects Jammu to Srinagar.

PM Modi in his speech today called Chenab Rail Bridge a “historic engineering marvel,” which was finally completed after a long wait of 30 years since the USBRL (Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link) project approved in 2003. He emphasized on the bridge’s vigorous design- steel arch is capable of withstanding earthquakes, extreme temperature variation, wind speed up to 260 km/h, and has lifespan of 120 years.

The bridge stands 359m above the River Chenab, which is taller than the Eiffel Tower; it shows, as emphasized by our Prime Minister, ” New India’s strength, resilience and technological capability ” in bridge building.
