Why Not Bumrah as Captain?
After Rohit Sharma retired, many thought Jasprit Bumrah should be captain. But selector Ajit Agarkar said Bumrah feels extra pressure when he is captain. His main role is as a bowler, and the team wants to keep him fit. Managing 15-16 players while bowling is not easy, so they didn’t want to give him that extra load.

Agarkar also said KL Rahul was not considered for captain because he was not in their current plan. The team wanted a captain who can lead for the long term.
Three Players Dropped
Three players who went to Australia have been left out:
- Sarfaraz Khan
- Devdutt Padikkal (injured)
- Harshit Rana
Sarfaraz and Harshit are now part of the India A team, not the main team. Padikkal is injured and missed the IPL too.

New players included:
- Sai Sudharsan
- Karun Nair
- Shardul Thakur
- Arshdeep Singh
- Kuldeep Yadav
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from Test cricket, so this team has new faces.
