Bhool Chuk Maaf was originally planned for a direct OTT release, but due to a legal battle, it eventually hit theatres on May 23.

Bhool Chuk Maaf, a time loop comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, ironically faced its own release loop. While the makers had planned to bypass cinemas and opt for a digital release, multiplex chain PVRINOX challenged the decision in court. As a result, the film eventually made its theatrical debut on May 23.
What Wamiqa said
In a conversation with Just Too Filmy, Wamiqa Gabbi reflected on the controversy surrounding the film and the emotional burden that came with it. She shared, “It didn’t impact me at all. I’ve been through enough in life to not let something like this shake me.

It was a significant moment for me — one that could have overwhelmed me emotionally. But I stayed unaffected, because I’ve already seen and faced a lot.”
It is not in my control
She elaborated, “I’ve faced rejection countless times. I’ve had promises made that were never fulfilled. There were projects I poured my heart into, believing they’d be career-changing — but they didn’t turn out that way.
Over time, I’ve realized that some things are simply beyond my control. Still, through it all, I kept growing — slowly but surely.”

The controversy began when Maddock Films announced on May 9 that Bhool Chuk Maaf would skip a theatrical release and instead premiere on Prime Video on May 16, citing heightened nationwide security measures following Operation Sindoor.

However, multiplex chain PVRINOX challenged this decision in court. Eventually, Maddock Films, PVRINOX, and Amazon MGM Studios reached a mutual agreement, and the film was released in cinemas on May 23.
Bhool Chuk Maaf tells the story of a man on the verge of getting married who finds himself trapped in a time loop, endlessly reliving the day before his wedding. The film is now streaming on Prime Video.
